The holidays go better with wine. It’s one of the few things that most of us can agree on. And Bellflower sommelier Jennifer Lucier has put together four very special holiday packages that are sure to demonstrate just how true that is. Following are Lucier’s notes about what you’ll find in each of the packages she’s curated for us. If you should see anything that you think would make your holiday better, just visit the Bellflower online shop, place your order, and let us know when we can have your bottles ready for you. [Contactless pickup is available. All holiday wine packages need to be ordered by 5:00 PM on December 17.]
All Sparkling Pack: $85…
An all sparkling holiday wine package seemed like the perfect place to introduce Bellflower’s new bubbly offerings, so that’s exactly what we’re doing! In addition to the popular and always festive Krone Brut Rosé, with its vivid acidity and bountiful flavors of bright red fruits, we’re featuring the Vilarnau Brut Cava and the Langlois-Chateau Crémant de Loire in a bundle tailor-made to kick off your winter celebrations. Each bottle offers a unique varietal blend and expression of the traditional Champagne Method of sparkling production: the Vilarnau Cava showcases a complex and toasty nose with notes of nuts, green apple, tofu, and smoke complimented by a creamy mouthfeel with persistent and generous fizz, and the Langlois-Chateau Crémant is bright and juicy with scents of tropical fruit and lively citrus which carry over to an extremely balanced body with lots of mouth watering texture, delicate bubbles, and a crisp, clean finish.
Vilarnau Barcelona Brut Reserva, Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Parellada NV, Penedes, Catalonia
Krone Brut Sparkling Pinot Noir, Chardonnay Rosé 2018, Western Cape, South Africa
Château Langlois Crémant Brut Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc NV, Loire Valley, France
3 Bottle Pack: $65…
Our three-bottle bundle begins and ends with holiday-focused wines and doesn’t quit in the middle. Since celebrations need a bottle of bubbles, the Vilarnau Barcelona Brut Reserve (and its stunningly beautiful bottle) is the perfect way to get things started. With a toasty and smoky nose that leads into a bright and fizzy body, this organic cava will easily pair with hors d’oeuvres or stand alone as an aperitif. Next up is a Bellflower house favorite since opening: the Evolucio Furmint which offers an incredibly versatile white wine that we have paired with everything from light and buttery scallops and garlicky roasted oysters, to a rich and cheesy boudin. It will easily find a place in your festivities with its bright acidity, minerality, and distinct flavors of crystalized ginger, green apple, and black pepper. Closing things out is the Indigenous Nero di Troia, a unique varietal from northern Puglia and a wine that can’t hide its winter holiday preferences. On the nose are immediate scents of cinnamon, fruit cake, and dark honey with a velvety palate that has flavors of dark dried fruits, plums, and baking spices. If Christmas had a secret spirit animal wine, this Nero di Troia would be it.

Evolucio Furmint 2018, Tokaj, Hungary
Indigenous Nero di Troia 2017, Puglia, Italy
6 Bottle Pack: $125…
The six-bottle wine bundle features some serious food-friendly bottles. With all the richness that usually accompanies holiday cooking, and with our packaged meals being no exception (did somebody say Chef Dan loves butter?), some freshness in a wine really helps balance things out. Luckily, our bottles of white wine do just that. In particular, the crisp and refreshing Bleu de Mer Sauvignon Blanc-Chardonnay has a bright and lively palate with lots of citrus on the nose and just enough acidity and body to cut through even the creamiest of dishes. Our red wines also have countless pairing options with the Morgan Winery Monterey Grenache-Syrah effortlessly bridging Old and New World wine styles. With a peppery spice that layers through the bottle and scents and flavors of cherry, raspberry compote, and fresh herbs, this classic Rhone blend from California will easily compliment the central focus of your meal, regardless of the meat or vegetable protein.
